I will soon be listing an incredibly beautiful, mid-century modern table lamp in solid brass, dating from around the 1950s! The lamp is of German design by Cosack Leuchten, and features a fantastic organic form reminiscent of the iconic designs of Paavo Tynell.
When lit, the lamp casts charming little points of light; the hemispherical brass shade incorporates a decorative perforated pattern, creating a lovely interplay of light. The elegantly curved brass arm gives the lamp a classic, timeless profile, while the original ball joint at the back of the shade allows you to easily angle the light exactly where you want it.
The lamp will retain its original, untouched surface—complete with its beautiful, natural aging and the darkening of the brass. It will simply be gently cleaned with a mild soap to preserve its authentic vintage character! This is a truly wonderful lamp. It is in vintage condition, showing normal signs of age and use on the surface (please see photos), while its technical components will be restored to like-new condition.
It possesses an authentic patina that can only be acquired once—which is why I have left it as is—but should the new owner prefer it highly polished, that can easily be done. As an electrician, I have upgraded the entire electrical system of this lamp to ensure it is 100% safe for modern homes:
• It features a brand-new, period-appropriate power cord—a black, fabric-covered twisted cable.
• It includes a new earthed plug (compatible with all modern wall sockets).
• The original white push-button switch on the base has been overhauled and now functions perfectly.
This is the ideal lamp for those seeking authentic vintage character and a unique statement piece for their living room or desk—without having to worry about old, brittle wiring.
Technical specifications:
• Height: 40 cm
• Shade diameter: 21 cm
• Weight: Approx. 1800 g (a sturdy, heavy lamp)
Similar lamps in unrestored condition often command high prices on the international market; here, you have the opportunity to purchase a fully refurbished, electrically safe lamp at a reasonable price!
