Coming soon!
I will soon be listing an incredibly beautiful and rare collector's item: an original, 100% Verified Original, early edition of the iconic Bestlite BL1 table lamp.
The lamp features the perfect, unique patina and the mechanical details characteristic of early models. Authenticity is confirmed by the original stampings on the mechanical ball joint (see photos):
Original "BESTLITE" stamping on one side.
The British design registration number "Rd 762006" and "BRITISH BEST" stamped on the opposite side.
The original, period-correct toggle switch on top of the shade is intact.
Upgraded Electrical System – Ready for Safe Use!
Old vintage lamps often have perished and unsafe wiring. As a licensed electrician, I am giving this lamp a proper technical upgrade so it can be safely used in a modern home:
It will be fitted with a brand-new, period-correct twisted fabric cord.
The lamp will be properly grounded and fitted with a new grounded plug.
The lamp is in good mechanical condition, with all joints and tensioning mechanisms fully functional. It boasts a stunning natural patina, with some age-related wear to the finish on both the inside and outside of the shade (see detailed photos). This gives the lamp the authentic character and soul you simply can't get from a new store-bought lamp—this is a true collector's piece! Updated photos following the refurbishment are coming soon! The lamp was manufactured by the British firm Best & Lloyd in Birmingham during the pre-war period (before or during World War II) and should not be confused with modern reproductions from Gubi.
This is the original Bauhaus classic that, among others, Winston Churchill kept on his desk in London during the war.
