I
am now selling an incredibly beautiful, French art deco glass radiator, which has
been converted into a lamp. It no longer works as a heater, as it was originally
built for 110V. The elements are there, but they're not connected.
The oven was
designed by René-André COULON for SAINT-GOBAIN and was produced in the period 1937
- 1949, so this is a real Art Deco designed object! It is composed of two plates
in tempered glass, with inlaid heating foil/conductors. The rectangular base is
in molded glass, marked (etched in) "SAINT-GOBAIN", and the base lights
up beautifully when the bulbs are turned on, while also providing a great backlight
on the wall (see photos).
The oven has been completely disassembled and carefully
cleaned. All the electrics have been replaced; It has been given a new plug, a new
and contemporary twisted fabric cord that is mounted on an on/off – floor switch,
for easy operation of the light. New bulb holders and 2 x new LED bulbs. All electrical
work has been carried out by a professional.
It has a great patina (including on
the rods that hold the glass plates together), which shows its authenticity. The
glass plates are intact and fine, no cracks or chips on the glass. This is really
a beautiful and historic piece of furniture that you don't see very often. Secure
this gem, it is guaranteed to make a "statement" in your home, as the
great design icon this is!
